The Mark Twain

Disneyland, CA  2018

During my trip to southern California and Disneyland, I used my iPhone exclusively for the photos I took.  The camera in the iPhone, along with the associated photo apps are pretty amazing and create great images, especially when viewed on the iPhone or iPad.  They even look great on my iMac.  I guess it's not surprising.  I have noticed however once the photos get published to Blogger, they don't appear quite as sharp.  I'm not quite ready to give up my DSLR yet.

Goofy!

Disneyland, CA  2018

Minnie Mouse was nearby, but I never did see Mickey Mouse during my visit.

Main Street

Disneyland, CA  2018

All my photos this week were taken using an iPhone 8 plus.  I'm still not comfortable taking photos with my iPhone, but it is very convenient to use, and the quality is outstanding.  Unfortunately, there was no simple way to get my pictures from my phone directly to this blog without first returning home to my computer.

Disneyland

Anaheim, CA  2017

One cannot visit southern California without spending at least one day at Disneyland.  I had visited Disneyland during my college years and was anxious to see what it looks like today.  It looks just as good as ever.

Back to Our Regularly Scheduled Programming.....

Costa Mesa, CA  2018

I hope to resume posting on a more regular  basis, now that some distractions are out of the way.  It has a been a very busy year for me so far in 2018 and when I do have some free time to get out and photograph, the weather has not cooperated.  Add to that a recent vacation to Orange County, CA to attend the MidWinter Convention of the Barbershop Harmony Society and this blog did not get usual updates.  It was nice to get away from the Connecticut winter weather for a week.  The local people in Costa Mesa were complaining about what a brutal winter they were having the week I was there.  By brutal they meant no sunshine and temperatures reaching a high of 65 deg F.  That's pretty brutal.

Foreclosure

Norwich, CT  2017

Not all the homes are kept up as well as those pictured here this week.

Norwich Houses III

Norwich, CT  2017

With the weather being so cold here Connecticut, I can't imagine what it would cost to heat some of these homes.

Norwich Houses

Norwich, CT  2017

I've always admired the grand homes that are found in Norwich, CT and during the last week of the year, I was able to get out and photograph some of them.  At one time, just before the start of the Civil War, there were more millionaires in Norwich than any other place in the world.  Some of these homes probably date from that time, or shortly thereafter.  Some of these homes are kept up well. Others however have been broken up into of smaller apartments.

Happy New Year! Brrrrrr....

Niantic, CT  2018,   10:36 AM

It has actually warmed up a bit this morning to 10℉.  I know in some parts of the country, this could be a considered a heat wave, but for southern New England, it's cold!   Happy New Year!!
