DC-3 (C-47)

Groton, CT  2017

The DC-3 first flew in 1935 and was built for commercial use.  It was converted to military use during World War II and was known as the C-47.  It transported troops, towed gliders, hauled cargo, parachuted both troops and supplies.  Over 15,000 of these planes were built and today it is estimated there are still 100-200 in operation.
